The new secretary froze in surprise when she saw her photo in the director’s office. It was lying on his desk… 😱 😨
There was a photo of me when I was little. She couldn’t understand how it had ended up here. On the laptop open on the desk, several pages were displayed with information collected about different employees. It became clear that the director had a habit of studying people in advance before hiring them.
But the young woman’s attention was soon drawn to another sheet. It was a list of secretaries. Next to the names, durations were written: one week, two months, sometimes simply the note “dismissed.” On the last line, her name was already written.
The young woman realized that secretaries didn’t stay here for long. It seemed that people always understood too late what kind of job they had accepted.
And for her, this job had only just begun…
The director entered the room and noticed that the young woman had already seen everything. She stayed silent for a moment, then showed him the photo.
— Excuse me… but this is my photo. How did it end up on your desk?
The director remained silent for a moment, then slowly sat down in his chair.
— To be honest… I knew that one day you would see it.
The young woman was confused. The director sat at his desk and said:
— But no one works here for long.
— Why?
The director smiled slightly.
— Because people usually realize too late what kind of job they have agreed to.
The young woman’s heart began to beat faster.
— And what kind of job is it?
The director closed the laptop.
— You will find out tonight… when you stay here for the first time after working hours.
To be continued in the first comment — that’s when everything became clear. 👇 👇 👇
In the evening, when everyone had already left the office, the building was almost empty. Silence filled the corridors, with only the soft hum of the air conditioning.
The director sat at his desk while the young woman stood looking at the list of former secretaries. One week, two months… then “dismissed.”
The director calmly closed the laptop.
— You’ve already seen everything, he said. At least now you understand why people don’t stay here for long.
The young woman remained silent for a moment. Her gaze fell again on the list. Then she slowly took the sheet and carefully looked at the names. Suddenly, her face changed.
— They… she said softly. They didn’t “leave.”
The director didn’t understand. The young woman turned the sheet toward him and pointed at a name with her finger.
— She’s my friend from university. Three months ago she told me she had found a good job… and then she simply disappeared.
A heavy silence filled the room. The young woman quickly took her bag.
— I think I’ve understood enough.
She walked toward the door.
The director said nothing. He simply watched her.
The young woman left the office, quickly walked down the corridor, went down the stairs, and left the building. Outside, the air was cold. She stood still for a moment, took a deep breath, and then walked away. A few minutes later, the director’s phone rang.
He looked at the screen and answered.
— Yes, he said calmly. She has already left.
Someone said something on the other end of the line. The director looked out the window for a moment at the dark street. Then he replied:
— Very well. Follow her.
A few seconds later he added:
— Like the others… let her simply disappear.
