As my husband’s 40th birthday approached, I decided to throw him a surprise party. So that he wouldn’t suspect a thing, I told him I would be away that day, and we agreed to celebrate his birthday together another time. The day before his birthday, I even pretended to pack my bags and leave for the airport, but in reality, I spent the night at a friend’s house.

Since my husband usually comes home around 6 p.m., I asked the guests to arrive at 5 p.m. to help me prepare everything. Once everything was ready, we turned off the lights and hid, waiting for the perfect moment to jump out and surprise him.

Suddenly, we heard the key turning in the lock.

I held my breath as the door opened. But before anyone could shout, “Surprise!”, we heard something that sent chills down my spine.

A woman’s voice.

For a few seconds, I thought my husband had come home with another woman. But when the lights came on, everyone in the room let out a stunned gasp.

When the door opened, we all froze. My husband walked in with a woman I had never seen before, and they were kissing, convinced that no one was home and that I had gone away on a trip. When I saw the scene, I was completely devastated. For a few seconds, no one dared to move. Our family members and friends in the room stared at them in disbelief, while my husband, seeing the lights come on and everyone standing there, turned deathly pale.

He began trying to explain himself, but I didn’t want to hear another word. Fighting back my tears, I walked toward the door and, in a calm but firm voice, ordered them to leave my house immediately. The woman looked around, completely confused, while my husband couldn’t believe that his secret had been exposed on the very day of his 40th birthday, in front of everyone.

The evening that was supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life had turned into a moment that changed our lives forever. And what happened next was even more heartbreaking for all of us…
