The whole family was excited about my 60-year-old father’s wedding… until a scream echoed from the newlyweds’ bedroom 😱 😨
My father turned sixty this spring. My mother passed away years ago, when my sister and I were still students. After that, he lived alone for a long time, fully devoted to his work, the church, and his small garden.
Our relatives often tried to convince him to start a new life, but he always refused, waiting until we were settled. When my sister got married and I found a job, he finally began to think about his own personal life.
One day, he told us he had met a woman. This surprised us. She was much younger than him, had a job, and was already divorced. They had met in a public place. At first, we were suspicious, but as we got to know her, we realized she was calm, respectful, and that their relationship was sincere. There was no material interest between them—only peace and understanding.
The wedding took place in the garden of our family home, in a simple and warm atmosphere. Everything was modest: family, friends, food, and good spirits. That day, my father was happy, even a bit emotional. At the end of the evening, everyone started cleaning up, and the newlyweds went to the room that had once belonged to my parents.
In the middle of the night, I woke up because of a strange noise. At first, I thought it was the wind or an animal. Then I heard a loud, terrifying scream. My sister and I immediately ran to my father’s room.
Behind the door, we could hear the frightened voice of the woman. I opened the door. And what I saw at that moment… completely shook me. 😱

And what I saw with my own eyes… left me speechless. My father was holding a large bouquet of flowers, clearly prepared as a romantic surprise. He had tried to create a special moment, but he slipped on the old carpet, and everything fell to the floor. The woman had screamed in fear as she lost her balance.
My father, embarrassed but already laughing, quickly went over, helped her up, and apologized. At that moment, I realized how wrong our fears and assumptions had been. What seemed frightening was actually just a small incident, full of love and tenderness.
Despite the years of loneliness and the age difference, they were truly happy. And it showed in every detail. That night, once everything had calmed down, we all gathered in the living room, relieved and smiling. The scream that had terrified us just minutes earlier became a story we would laugh about for years.
My father and his wife went to bed. And the house… for the first time in a long time, was filled again with a sense of life and fullness.
