It had already been three years since her ex-husband had sent even a single cent for their daughter. After the divorce, he simply disappeared. Later, the newspapers revealed that he had married a very wealthy woman and was now living in luxury, staying in prestigious hotels and traveling constantly.
And now, suddenly, a courier had left a package at the door of their modest apartment. Inside was an old cloth doll, dirty and almost torn apart. Furious, Élise immediately wanted to throw it in the trash. But Sophie, her five-year-old daughter, ran to the doll and hugged it tightly.
