A widow had gone to the chicken coop to feed her hens, but there she found a pregnant woman, exhausted, lying on the ground. And when she realized who she was and why she was there… she froze in fear. 😱😨
The rain had started in the late afternoon, as if the sky had waited for the sun to disappear before unleashing itself. At first, there was the smell of wet earth, crushed grass, dust turned into mud. Then the sounds: rain hitting the roof nonstop, water running, small streams forming in the yard. On nights like this, the house seemed to shrink, and everything centered around the light in the kitchen.
The woman closed the door carefully. She had lived alone for years, and the silence had become part of the house. Everything reminded her of the past: the empty chair, the quiet hallway, the radio playing softly to drown out her thoughts.
That evening, she did as usual. She lit the wood stove, put water on to heat, warmed some bread, and made coffee. That simple smell calmed her a little, reminding her of the old days, her family, the years gone by.
She was sitting, ready to drink her coffee, when she heard a strange noise.
First, the chickens became restless, then a dull thud, and finally something sliding in the mud. She felt that something wasn’t right. It wasn’t exactly fear… more like a warning. She took a lamp, put on her coat, and went outside. The yard was dark, full of mud and water. She slowly approached the chicken coop. When she shone the light inside, her heart tightened.
The door of the coop was slightly open. She was sure she had closed it. She lowered the light… it wasn’t an animal. It was something like a piece of cloth… that moved.
The light trembled. A pale face appeared. Wet hair stuck to her forehead, large eyes full of fear and fever.
A young woman. Curled up in the mud, her hands on her belly… pregnant.
The woman stepped back for a moment, then moved closer. She immediately understood that the young woman needed help. With difficulty, she pulled her out. The young woman had almost no strength left. She brought her inside, gave her dry clothes and something warm. The young woman cried silently.
After resting a little, she finally began to speak… and hearing her story, the woman was shocked. This was who she was and why she had been in the chicken coop.

The young woman regained some strength and began to tell her story. It was her own family who had thrown her out of the house. The reason: her pregnancy. They didn’t want the child, didn’t want the “shame.” One day, they had simply closed the door in her face. The woman froze.
For a few seconds, she said nothing. She looked at the young woman, unable to believe what she had just heard. Her face hardened, her eyes filled, but no tears fell. Then she slowly moved closer, sat beside her, and placed a hand on her shoulder.
At that moment, something changed inside her. She stood up, went to the cupboard, took an old phone she hadn’t used in a long time, and dialed a few numbers. Her voice had changed — it had become firm, determined.
For the first time in that silent house, a decision was made — a decision no one could change.
She called the village nurse, then a contact in the city who could help with paperwork. Then she returned to the kitchen, sat across from the young woman, and looked her straight in the eyes.
At that moment, the young woman understood she was no longer alone. The woman took her hand and squeezed it gently. That night, she closed the door not out of fear… but to protect her. And the next morning, when the rain stopped, she already knew one thing for certain: that young woman would never return to the house she had been cast out from.
