My daughter is 13 years old. Every day after school, she seemed to have a set time to disappear into the forest near our house. All of this seemed strange to me, so I decided to follow her. What I discovered literally left me speechless.
One evening, I followed her silently. As soon as we entered the forest, I saw her stop in front of a row of stones that seemed to rise from the ground. I stepped closer and looked more carefully. She entered right in the middle of these stones, as if she could slip into a hidden cavity that no one else would notice.
What I saw inside completely shocked me. This “hole in the stone” was not made of cold rock, but a small hidden cavity in the heart of the forest. And what I saw there… I was left speechless. Here’s what was inside and what my daughter was doing…

Inside were small hedgehogs, some baby animals, and even species I never would have imagined finding in that place.
My daughter came here every day. With her own hands, she brought them food and water, cared for them as if they were her little friends. She spoke to them, comforted them, and the animals approached her with trust to play and eat.
I stayed back, amazed by the love and tenderness she showed them. Suddenly, I understood that this was her secret world, where she could reveal herself, a place where nothing and no one could interfere with the great kindness of her heart toward these small, fragile creatures.
And I realized… she was not only taking care of them, she was also learning responsibility, how to love, and how to protect what is weak and vulnerable.
