I had entrusted my house keys to my sister and left for a business trip. When I came back, I was absolutely stunned by what was happening there. I was terrified: my daughter was standing in front of the door, frozen in place, staring ahead, and a crowd of people had gathered in front of the house…
I was alone, exhausted after years of hard work, separated from my husband, and without any support. Work, business trips, meetings, responsibilities… every day felt like a burden, and I could barely find time for myself and my daughter.
As I approached the house, I was surprised by the number of people gathered there. I didn’t understand what had happened. My daughter looked at me, motionless and frightened, clutching her small hands as if trying to protect both herself and me at the same time. At that moment I realized that I could never have predicted something like this. The only option was to react quickly and understand what was happening inside the house.
I rushed to my sister to find out what was going on, and she began to explain in a trembling voice. When I heard the truth, I was completely shocked: this is what had happened.

My sister had taken my daughter out for a short outing while I was away. But while they were outside, burglars broke into our house. They had completely ransacked everything.
Inside, the doors were wide open, furniture had been moved, and drawers were emptied. Everything was in chaos: personal belongings scattered everywhere, important papers spread across the floor, and footprints all around. Even our family memories had been disturbed, some of them broken.
My daughter stood frozen in front of the door, her eyes wide open, trembling, holding my hand tightly as if trying to calm herself. I felt a mix of anger and fear overwhelm me. How could we have been so vulnerable? How could no one have protected our home even for a few hours?
I immediately called the police, and we began assessing the damage. The shock was overwhelming. Everything we had built — our belongings, our memories — had been threatened in a single moment.
Right then and there, I promised myself that I would never again leave my daughter or my home unprotected. Even if I was exhausted, even if I was alone, I had to make sure we were safe. From that moment on, we would never again be at the mercy of people with bad intentions.
